About me

For a link to a PDF version of my CV click here.

I submitted my PhD at the Research School of Economics, Australian National University (ANU) in early November 2023. I am currently on the academic job market for 2023/2024.

My research is characterised by originality, which has resulted in me having three very different articles to comprise my thesis. I am an applied micro-economist. My thesis draws upon the sub-disciplines of labour economics, time use, household bargaining, inequality and econometric anthropology. Prior to my Masters Degree in Economic Policy, I studied mathematics and statistics. For a copy of my Research Statement click here. For working papers and an overview of my current research projects click here.

I am an experienced university tutor, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. In 2020 I was recognised with the ANU Commendation for Excellence in Tutoring, an award I was nominated for by graduate students. I firmly believe that university teaching should be research-led, and have experience assisting with this style of teaching. I consider myself an advocate for equity and inclusion in education; I have particular experience in improving the educational outcomes of females, students with a disability and students from non-English speaking backgrounds. My Teaching Statement can be found here and my Inclusion and Diversity Statement can be found here

I have a strong history of service to education. This includes two-year terms in the following roles: the post-graduate representative on the ANU Academic Appeals Panel; a Women in Maths Mentor with the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute, University of Melbourne; and being a Senior Resident at Graduate House, a post-graduate hall of residence where I helped lead pastoral care of Masters and Doctoral students.

For the past three years I have worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. As a Senior Data Engineer I linked government administrative data (including tax returns, healthcare data and welfare payments) to new data supplies. My expertise is quality data linkage, statistical disclosure control (ensuring Australians' privacy is not compromised) and efficient programming. I currently work as Senior Statistical Analyst in the Life Course Data Initiative, holding a supervisory position in the ABS Statistical Program to study place-based intergenerational disadvantage using administrative data.  In 2022 I was jointly awarded the Australian Statistician's Award (Team Category) for my role in linkage of the Australian Immunisation Register to the Multi-Agency Data Integration Project. This project helped inform the Australian government on the rate of COVID-19 vaccination for different demographic and occupation groups.

On a personal note, I am an Australian citizen.
